An oral history of Virginia Ayala, a fashionista and co-owner of Kaleidoscope Kollective. 

"De La Luna"'s literal translation is "Of the moon". As Virginia mentions on her website, the moon is an inspirtation to her collections in that it relates to women and the cycles of life on Earth. She incorportates concepts regarding Earth while manipulating colors, textiles, and prints. Overall, her goal is to provide her clients with a unique piece that expresses their individuality.  

 

Xochi Flores: An Oral History

Xochi Flores was born in Oxnard, California, and currently resides in Los Angeles. She is an active member of Chicano art and music. She is a member of Son Jarocho band Cambalache, also a member of all-female bands Candela and Las Que No. Besides, she has always been involved with community works, she is the former associate director of the Nation Day Labor Organizing Network (NDLON), which is an immigrants’ rights organization that spans over 22 states and has over 70 member organizations. And now she is a member of the Alliance for California Traditional Arts and The Wellness Center doing reentry work teaching people recently released from prison to play Son Jarocho. Xochi is also a grant writer who has published several articles and event coordinator and a proud mother of three.
