Tanya 'Nena Soul Fly' Melendez talked about how her favorite and most memorable experiences within the fashion and design industry were with other artists and activists. Working with others reminds her of the support people have for her and how the community she is now a part of is like family. The people that she works with, particularly women, continue to inspire her and remind her of the importance of her work.

This is a shot from Nena Soul Fly's very first photoshoot. The model is wearing a handmade, vintage style dress by Nena Soul Fly which was inspired by the work of Malick Sadibé. Photographer is Noe Montes, model is poet Mayde De Valle, hair and makeup by Doreen Nakama of Nylon Magazine.

This is a shot of the LA Weekly cover in the first week of January 2016. Pictured is Columbian-American R&B artist Kali Uchis. Nena Soul Fly was responsible for Uchis' hair and makeup for this photoshoot. She says she loves working with artists like Kali because of their radiating strength and empowerment.

This is a one of a kind necklace that Nena Soul Fly made for Maya Jupiter to wear in her 'Never Said Yes' music video. The music video came out on April 1st, 2016 and aims to raise awareness about sexual assault against women. The video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqsMQ2Bgaxo. Tanya 'Nena Soul Fly' Melendez says that she loves working with Jupiter because of her 'passion and what she really wants to see change socially and politically for women'. She loves the rawness of the women she works with and how everyone is tied together by the common interest of getting back to their roots.

While talking about Maya Jupiter, she also mentioned that she often works with Ana Tijoux. She styled both women for the Grammy Awards in 2015 and recalls it being one of the more powerful and emotional experiences of her life.
