Xochi attended Bravo Medical Magnet high school in LA. She wasn’t thrilled about attending high school, as she was going through a lot of changes in her life at the time. It was here though that Xochi discovered her gifts and strengths in writing, speaking, and putting together language. She learned more about speaking truth and addressing injustices by putting into practice much of what she learned at home coupled with her new access to classics and other reading materials.

Xochi started college at UCLA at age 17, straight out of high school. She attended UCLA for three years before dropping out after being put on probation. She felt that she allowed a lot of her past to haunt her as she never truly addressed some issues of abuse and neglect. All of this gravely impacted her academic performance, her sleep, eating patterns, and overall well being. After becoming a mother of three, in 2017, Xochi decided to return to school. She applied to Pacific Oaks College, which was offering two full scholarships–one for a bachelor's degree and one for a master's degree. Xochi received the full scholarship to finish her bachelor's degree, however, she was able to finish quickly and asked to continue for free to obtain her masters. While the college did not extend her full-ride, they did offer her a 50% reduction. Xochi is currently completing her master’s degree in educational leadership with an emphasis on culture and community sustainability and will graduate in December of 2019.
